TOKYO — Even before the Nissan 370Z makes its official debut at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show in two weeks, a photo of a performance-minded Nismo model has found its way onto the Internet.

The photo first appeared on 370ZTech.com without any accompanying text. Details on mechanical upgrades haven't been revealed, but the car is clearly sporting a spoiler, rear apron and side sills different from those of the standard 370Z.

The leaked photo shows the car wearing a Fairlady Z badge, as the 370Z is called in Japan. However, it's likely that some form of Nismo 370Z will also show up here in America. Nismo's current 350Z offering in the U.S. is equipped with lightweight Rays wheels, a sport suspension, an upgraded exhaust system, a limited-slip differential, reinforced body welds and a tweaked body.

Inside Line says: Nissan's single rear photo leaves much to the imagination about what's inside this 370Z. — Eric Tingwall, Correspondent
