TOKYO — Mitsubishi is reviving a name from its past. The Japanese automaker's all-new compact crossover, revealed previously in near-production trim as the Concept cX, will go on sale next spring in Japan, badged as the Mitsubishi RVR.
The small CUV will make its way shortly after that to Europe, North America and other Asian markets, most likely as a 2011 model.
Mitsubishi used the RVR name in Japan on a compact MPV from 1991-2002. That vehicle, more of a tall wagon crossed with a microvan, was sold in various export markets as the Mitsubishi Space Runner and the Mitsubishi Expo LRV. It was also marketed in the U.S. by Chrysler as the Dodge and Plymouth Colt Vista and the Eagle Summit Wagon.
The 2011 RVR gets a new 1.8-liter MIVEC four-cylinder gas engine and will measure about 169 inches long, more than a foot shorter than the Mitsubishi Outlander.
Inside Line says: Mitsubishi continues the process of remaking its product portfolio — and hopefully its image. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

Thanks in advance Mitsubishi for screwing us over by not providing an AWD + M/T option.

Wow, what an ugly vehicle! It looks like the product of when an Evo has sex with a PT Cruiser. I think I'm gonna hurl.

it looks good because the entire car looks almost identical to the Audi Q5.
