Mitsubishi: What's New for 2010

    5 Ratings

2010 Mitsubishi Eclipse: Mitsubishi has added a new GS Sport model, which provides the more aggressive look and the features of the GT without the added expense of its V6 engine. Standard equipment on the 2010 Eclipse GS Sport includes Mitsubishi's 162-horsepower 2.4-liter inline-4, a four-speed automatic transmission (you can still get a manual gearbox on the base GS), 18-inch wheels, a blacked-out front fascia, a rear deck spoiler, dual exhaust outlets, a sunroof, Rockford Fosgate sound and satellite radio.

Newly standard on both the GT and the GS Sport are HID headlights, a rearview camera and Bluetooth. An auxiliary audio jack and stability control are standard across the board this year. Carbon is a new exterior paint choice.

2010 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder: The four-cylinder Eclipse Spyder GS adopts GT styling cues for 2010, including the blacked-out front fascia and dual exhaust outlets. New standard equipment for all 2010 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyders include a rearview camera, stability control, an auxiliary audio jack and Bluetooth. Carbon is a new paint choice.

2010 Mitsubishi Endeavor: The Endeavor skipped the 2009 model year as Mitsubishi continued to sell down 2008 inventory. For 2010, it gets a restyled grille and tailgate, along with new 18-inch wheels on the SE trim level. All 2010 Endeavors get body-color door handles this year, along with Bluetooth. The SE gets automatic climate control and an upgraded center armrest. An option package for the SE combines a sunroof, a touchscreen navigation system, a back-up camera and a cargo cover. Carbon and Maizen Blue are new exterior colors.

2010 Mitsubishi Galant: Mitsubishi hacks apart the Galant lineup for 2010. The V6 models are gone, leaving only ES and SE models, both motivated by Mitsu's 160-hp 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Various drivetrain revisions yield a 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway EPA rating — up from 20/27 in 2009.

All 2010 Galants get a silver-painted grille, improved sound insulation, stability control and an auxiliary audio jack. Early-build SE models will get the navigation system and rearview camera package at no charge, and all 2010 SEs have new seat fabric.

2010 Mitsubishi Lancer: The biggest change for 2010 is a new Touring package for the Lancer GTS that offers leather upholstery, seat heaters and thicker windshield glass to quiet the ride.

All 2010 Mitsubishi Lancers get minor exterior styling revisions, and there's a new 16-inch alloy wheel design for the ES. In addition, all trim levels get UV-protective front-door glass and an odor-decomposing headliner. Inside, Mitsubishi has swapped in a full-color trip computer display and added a lid to the front cupholder unit.

Antilock brakes are standard equipment on the base Lancer DE model this year, and all Lancers come with stability control. The Lancer Ralliart gets hill start assist, and the optional Rockford Fosgate sound system makes a little extra power for 2010.

2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution: Mitsubishi never got around to building a 2009 Lancer Evolution, so the Evo is moving right into the 2010 model year. The major news is the availability of the Touring package on the Evolution X MR model. Intended to soften the Evo's rough edges, the package includes improved sound insulation and thicker windshield glass, along with luxuries like a sunroof, leather upholstery, seat heaters, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, heated mirrors and covered center console storage. Oh, yeah, and the MR's customary big rear wing gives way to a more discreet lip spoiler.

Aside from that, Mitsubishi has made some minor exterior styling revisions, and all Lancer Evos get UV-protective glass and an odor-eating headliner — because you're going to sweat when you drive this car. The company has also updated things a bit in the cabin: The trip computer display is now full-color, with more contrast for easier reading; the ACD switch moves to the center console; and the front cupholder unit gets a lid. All Evos get an auxiliary audio jack and Bluetooth for 2010. The Rockford Fosgate audio system (optional on the GSR, standard on MR) gets an extra shot of power this year. Finally, if you love, love, love the Rotor Glow paint on the Lancer Ralliart, you can now get it on the Evo GSR, too.

2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback: Mitsubishi is finally introducing the Lancer Sportback for 2010. If you like it as much as we do, you'd better go out and buy one, or this will be the last Mitsubishi hatchback you'll ever see. There's no Evo version, but Mitsu will offer the Lancer Sportback in front-wheel-drive GTS (168 hp) and turbocharged, all-wheel-drive Ralliart (237 hp) versions.

Equipment is just like on the Lancer sedan, meaning you can get the Lancer Sportback GTS with a Touring package (leather upholstery, HID headlights) and a Sun & Sound package (sunroof, Rockford Fosgate sound). The big option package to get on the Lancer Sportback Ralliart is the Recaro Sport package, which has the requisite Recaro seats along with HIDs and the Rockford Fosgate audio system.

2010 Mitsubishi Outlander: The major change you'll notice on the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander is that it has an Evo/Ralliart fascia grafted to its front end. Less jarring is the extra 10 hp for the 3.0-liter V6 engine, now rated at 230 hp. Mitsu has also revised the shift timing for the six-speed automatic transmission that comes with the V6.

A new Outlander GT model slots in above the XLS model. It has the same V6 and the same suspension tuning, but offers an upgraded all-wheel-drive system with a front electronic limited-slip differential. You'll be glad to know it also has aluminum-trimmed pedals. An upgraded security system with a motion sensor is standard on the Outlander GT and optional on other Outlanders.

Inside, 2010 Outlanders get revised instrumentation, new seat fabric and soft-touch door trim. The optional navigation system gets real-time traffic this year, and the Rockford Fosgate stereo gets more power. A new option package offers streaming Bluetooth and a USB jack.

wilma, I know this comment is rather late, but the Outlander V6 only recommends premium; it is not required.   You are free to burn regular or midgrade instead.  There will be a slight loss of power - maybe 4-6HP - but not enough to notice unless you're constantly stomping on the gas.

I have a '10 GT and after 6400 miles, mostly on midgrade gas, I'm getting a hair over 21MPG average.  I'm in Chicagoland so that includes a cold winter and now includes 85+ degree late spring weather.  I find the best MPG to be when cruising between 45 and 65 MPH.

If you ever come back to this thread, let us know what you wound up buying.

FYI: The Subaru 4 cylinder engine is an H4 (horizontally opposed cylinders) while most cars use I4s (in-line cylinders).  There aren't any V4s (cylinders in a V shape) in US production cars that I'm aware of.

i've been looking for a 2010 mid-size suv v6 fwd and was extremely disappointed to find that the mitsubishi cars only use premium gasoline. also the forrester only comes with a v4 and the tribeca, the only version that comes with a v6, only comes with 4wd. what is wrong with mitsubishi? in this economy do they really think people will buy a brand that takes the more expensive premium gas rather than a brand that uses regular gas which, btw, is expensive enough. i really liked the forrester but had to tell the saleman "no thanx" and surprisingly he didn't seem upset at all. guess my business really isn't needed!
