GENEVA — Mitsubishi will take the wraps off a new global vehicle at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show in March and released a single teaser shot on Thursday.
The image shows the front end of the model, although the Japanese automaker released few details about what it called "a strategic and innovative premium vehicle."
It said the vehicle is due out later this year.
"This unveiling will confirm the start of an all-new generation of global products for Mitsubishi Motors, consistent with the ambitions set in MMC's 'Jump 2013' business plan for a greener and more global Mitsubishi," the automaker said in a statement.
The teaser image reflects what Mitsubishi calls a "re-focused design language."
The image resembles the Concept PX-MiEV II plug-in hybrid shown at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show. The midsize crossover is an update of the original PX-MiEV concept shown in 2009.
Inside Line says: Expect a major product announcement from Mitsubishi in a few short weeks as we finally get a closer look at its ambitious Jump 2013 plans.

If indeed it is an Outlander, and I believe it probably is, the mystery lies in the powertrain. Mitsu has dedicated themselves to greener cars. Will it be a hybrid? DI turbo? Diesel? It certainly won't be the same NA four and V6 that power the current model.

Hopefully it is a game changer. If any company needs one it's Mitsu.
