In the U.S., the Ralliart fits in the niche between the Lancer GTS and the Evo X. It's equipped with the same 2.0-liter turbocharged MIVEC engine as the Evo and delivers 237 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque.
The Galant Fortis Ralliart gets Mitsubishi's dual-clutch SST transmission, and it's modified to have taller 5th and 6th gears than the Evo X, so it gets a little better gas mileage than its more powerful, track-loving brother. Full-time four-wheel drive combines with an active center differential to create a ride that can pull its weight while cruising or even at the track.
Mitsubishi told Inside Line that a five- or six-speed manual is in the works for the U.S.-market Ralliart in the States, although it could be expected to cost as much as the vehicle with the twin clutch with all the work necessary to reprogram and manipulate the vehicle.
The Galant Fortis Ralliart will sell in Japan priced at the equivalent of $28,153.
What this means to you: The Galant Fortis is sure to be big in Japan with its affordable price tag and peppy turbocharged 2.0-liter. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
