Tuner Special: Ings N-Spec Lancer Evo X

NARA, Japan — The tuner and racing outfit Ings has taken the wraps off its new aero kit for the Mitsubishi Evolution X, which includes a race-tested front bumper and rear spoiler.

The most notable feature on the front fascia is the asymmetric intake located in the upper grille. It helps improve airflow, as do canards, brake ducts and intercooler shrouds. Ings' aero pieces are available in fiberglass or a "hybrid aero" fiberglass/plastic mix.

The huge — and fully adjustable — rear wing, called the Z-Power, is made of carbon fiber. It comes in dry carbon or the less expensive wet carbon, with the dry carbon wing shaving 2 pounds off the wet carbon variant (5.7 versus 7.7 pounds).

Ings' N-Spec kit can be seen in a similar fashion on the company's Evo X that competes in the Japanese Super Taikyu series.

The Z-Power wing is currently being offered and the bumper should soon be available on the tuner's Web site.

Inside Line says: The N-Spec treatment helps with airflow and downforce while still giving the Mitsubishi a more aggressive appearance. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
