TOKYO — Mitsubishi now plans to add a second i MiEV concept to its display at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show. Joining the i MiEV Sport Air will be the Prototype i MiEV, a left-hand-drive variant with a wider track that's intended to meet European specifications.
The standard Mitsubishi i MiEV goes into production in Japan this summer. Mitsubishi said it hasn't decided whether to produce a version specifically for the Europe market. But it is currently testing prototypes in Japan, the United States, Europe and New Zealand.
The i MiEV features a lithium-ion battery pack and a 62-horsepower electric motor.
Inside Line says: Despite the disclaimer, Mitsubishi wants to take this one worldwide in 2010. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
