Mitsubishi has been showing the I- MiEV for a few years now and each time it seems like there’s a new version or an added feature. Here in Geneva, the company is showing two I MiEVs  The first is the I -MiEV sport air, a vehicle Mitsubishi says explores possibility of a zero emissions vehicle with a greater emphasis on driving pleasure.  A sport version of the I- MiEV could deliver approximately 90 hp and still deliver a 120 mile range thanks to lithium-ion battery pack.  While most concept cars are labeled with outlandish and essentially meaningless names, I- MiEV actually has some meaning behind it. It stands for Innovative, Mitsubishi Electric Vehicle. Granted, it’s not the sexiest name in the book but it does indicate where Mitsubishi is headed.  Expect the 2010 Mitsubishi I -MiEV to go on sale in Japan by the end of 2009 priced at the U.S. equivalent of $24,000.   Mitsubishi also unveiled a prototype I -MiEV – this one is left hand drive and has a wider track to meet European safety standard. The company is already testing the electric car in Japan, Europe, and the US.   With the introduction of the left hand drive version it seems like a safe bet that Mitsubishi will take this new electric car world wide by 2010.
