WASHINGTON — Mitsubishi is recalling 2,307 of its 2010 Galant vehicles because insufficient plating in the automatic transmission oil cooler pipe assembly could cause leaking fluid and result in a potential fire hazard, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
"The automatic transmission oil cooler pipe assembly on some vehicles may have insufficient plating to prevent corrosion," NHTSA said in its recalls summary of the problem. "If the pipe should develop a hole due to corrosion, automatic transmission fluid leakage may occur. ATF in the presence of an ignition source may result in a potential fire hazard."
Mitsubishi dealers will have the automatic transmission fluid cooler pipe assembly inspected. If insufficient plating is found, the dealer will replace the pipe assembly. The recall is expected to begin in March. Owners may contact Mitsubishi at 800-222-0037.

2,300 of them went to National Car Rental and Hertz, as demonstrated by my bad luck on the last few rentals!
