The Galant Ralliart uses the same 3.8-liter V6 that powers the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder. It produces 258 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm. It is matched to a new five-speed automatic transmission that features Sportronic clutchless shifting.
Unlike its siblings, the Ralliart features its own higher-rate springs and dampers and is exclusively equipped with a 21mm rear stabilizer bar. The 18-inch all-season tires are mounted to aluminum alloy wheels.
Inside, the Galant Ralliart is outfitted with standard perforated leather-trimmed seating, heated front seats, an automatic climate control system, a power sunroof, and aluminum pedals. A Rockford Acoustic Design audio system is standard and includes an in-dash six-disc CD changer. A new DVD navigation system with a 7-inch touchscreen is a factory-installed option.
Prices have not yet been announced.
What this means to you: Execs say the Ralliart "shows the direction we're taking with both the Galant and the brand." Too bad it doesn't even match the '07 Camry in terms of horsepower.
