But that likely won't deter 250 lucky customers in the U.K. and Europe from ordering the latest limited-edition Mini, built to commemorate the Cooper racing team's back-to-back Formula 1 world championships in 1959 and 1960. The World Championship 50 edition was announced at the Mini United festival here.
The cars will all be painted Connaught Green, with a Pepper White roof and hood stripes. The seats will be upholstered in black leather with red piping.
Mini says the tech specs are virtually identical to those of the current Mini JCW. The lengthy standard-equipment list includes the full JCW aero body kit, as well as a multifunction sport steering wheel, automatic climate control, park distance control, navigation system, foglamps and driving lights, 17-inch alloy wheels and a Harman Kardon audio system.
Production is due to start in September. According to Mini, the JCW World Championship 50 edition will be limited to the U.K. and Europe only.
