- AC Schnitzer debuts Mini E Police Car at the Essen auto show.
- The Mini was built for Schnitzer's sixth safety initiative program.
- A gray-and-blue police livery sets the electric car apart from the stock Mini E lineup.
ESSEN, Germany — For the 2010 Essen Auto Show, tuner AC Schnitzer has modified the all-electric Mini E into a police vehicle complete with everything from a set of flashing lights to the blue livery on the exterior.
The Mini was built for the tuner's sixth Tune It! Safe! Initiative, a program in which the company builds a concept car that satisfies the high demands of tuning fans while meeting maximum safety standards.
Schnitzer added an adjustable racing suspension, performance brake system with four-pot fixed calipers in the front and a set of 18-inch AC Schnitzer alloy wheels wrapped in Hankook tires. The exterior gets a police-style gray-and-blue livery. Other exterior modifications include a Hella signaling system on the roof, new front and rear bumpers and a vented hood.
The interior gets a new footrest, pedal set and aluminum hand brake. Although most of the Mini E modifications are not yet available commercially, they will be soon.
Inside Line says: If one of these ever found its way to a police force, it would be very useful as long as the suspects being pursued stayed within its driving range. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent

Probably perfect for patrolling beach communities, college campuses, or any other area where law enforcement mostly involves handing out parking tickets.

I would never, ever stop for a policeman driving an EV because I am guaranteed to get away, eventually.

If the suspect drives an electric scooter they make a chance!
