MUNICH, Germany — The latest spy shots of a Mini Crossman prototype reveal additional details of Mini's future "sports activity vehicle."

Based on the new Mini Clubman, the Crossman, previously known internally as the Colorado, appears to have a higher ride height than the current Mini models, and is expected to offer the added versatility of all-wheel drive.

Mini previously announced Austrian manufacturer Magna Steyr will build the Crossman, making the small SAV the first Mini to be assembled outside of the U.K.

Production is scheduled to begin in 2010.
