WOODCLIFF LAKE, New Jersey — Four Mini Cooper Countryman crossovers custom-painted to look like members of the glam band Kiss are being sold on eBay with the proceeds going to the children's charity UNICEF. The auction ends on June 8.
As of Wednesday morning, "The Demon" Mini Cooper Countryman was commanding top dollar, with "The Catman" Mini Cooper Countryman bringing up the rear. The other two versions of the Kiss-inspired Minis are "The Starchild" and "The Spaceman."
Mini explained on its Web site that the auction will help children in Japan following the devastating earthquake in that country, as well as emergency efforts around the world. It said that 100 percent of the proceeds of the auction — less the cost of shipping up to $4,000 — is bound for charity.
Mini USA is also selling vehicle wraps featuring the Kiss-inspired designs, initially revealed at the 2011 New York Auto Show. It was there that Mini President Jim McDowell donned full Kiss make-up, a black wig and a Kiss t-shirt as he introduced band members to the media.
The Kiss tie-in is part of the "Mini Rocks the Rivals" campaign by the brand.
Inside Line says: Surrealistic, but probably better than a Flavor Flav Mini Countryman.

Ugh, I was hoping for a Hershey's Kiss when I saw the headline.

To be fair, these eyesores are not painted. It is merely decals. They have a set of them at the Mini dealership here in town and I found them ridiculous. How many of these is Mini making? Are there really that many people left who still consider themselves part of the KISS army so much that they'd buy one of these? I don't get it.
Ah well, I hope they sell well for the company. Kudos to them for the charity love as well. I hope they bring in top dollar as it is a great cause.

I was visiting family in Nashville when I received a call from the MINI Dealer regarding the MINI Rocks event and I went to check it out and they had a Juke, RAV4, and a Tiguan on display to highlight why MINI was different/better-It was a really neat event, they had a countryman done up in the KISS swag :)
