The 2012 Mini Cooper and Cooper S Coupe go on sale this fall in the U.S. Prices start at $22,000 for the basic model and $25,300 for the Cooper S, and range into the low $40,000s for a fully loaded example.
We configured our fantasy 2012 Mini Cooper S Coupe in British Racing Green paint and John Cooper Works trim, plus custom wheels and several option packages. Price: $43,057.
Go ahead. Try it yourself. Mini's configurator, as it loads, claims there are "more than 10 million possible combinations."

I hope it only cost BMW $43.27 to come up with that car, as there is no point otherwise. It's far worse than a typical Cooper hardtop, as so many have said. I hope it fails, a lot.

I was right, this less capable, less "value-added", and uglier MINI coupe is priced above the FAR better hardtop. It offers nothing over, and everything LESS than, the hardtop, yet starts $1900 higher.
Tell me again why this should be purchased over an MX-5 Miata?
It's a loser out of the gate.
