The three-door Mini Concept Frankfurt has a longer wheelbase and an extended cargo box has been added to the rear compartment. It has a vertically split tailgate and split rear windows. The interior is pure show car with "suspended" seats and revised dashboard.
The original Mini wagon was available in two versions, the Austin Mini Countryman and the Morris Traveller — the two cars were identical but for badges and radiator grilles. These were "woody"-style wagons, and it's likely that a similar car will appear as part of the second-generation Mini range — we've seen pictures of a "half-timbered" LWB Mini with five doors — the rear side doors are rear-hinged, like a Mazda RX-8.
What will Mini call these cars? Both Traveller and Countryman are options — as is Clubman, the name used on the car that replaced both the Countryman and Traveller when Mini became a brand in its own right in the early 1970s.
What this means to you: The Mini range is about to get a lot wider when the second-generation car goes on sale — there are no less than six different body styles in the pipeline. A Mini for every taste!
