    What Is It?

    What's Special About It?

Mini mania may have subsided, but this new drop-top version stands to reignite the craze all over again. With a soft canvas top that can be lowered in just 15 seconds, the Mini convertible combines the fun of open-air driving with the one-of-a-kind style that made it famous.

Available in black, blue and green, the Mini's soft top also not only folds completely away at the flip of a switch, it can also slide back up to 15 inches at the front for those days when you don't want to go completely topless. And even when you do decide to drop the top, there's still over four cubic feet of cargo space in back — not bad for a four-seater that's less than 12 feet long.

Available only in the standard 115-horsepower form at first (a Cooper S convertible will follow at a later date), the Cooper convertible offers a palette of 10 exterior colors including two exclusive to the convertible — Hot Orange and Cool Blue. Unique 17-inch "Bullet" wheels are also convertible-only options while the standard feature list includes important safety features like four-wheel antilock brakes and side-impact airbags. Options include xenon headlights, automatic climate control and a high-end Harman Kardon sound system.

    What's Edmunds Take?

With Mini styling and a fully collapsible roof, this is about as close to an automotive slam dunk as it gets. With the standard coupes still fetching full sticker, the convertible will no doubt incite long waiting lists and inflated prices. — Ed Hellwig
