An Unconventional Road Trip Is Thinking Behind Mini and Airstream Concept

MUNICH, Germany — California surfers are bound to be intrigued by a new Mini Cooper S Clubman and Airstream concept that will be unveiled in late April at the Salone del Mobile show in Milan, Italy.

Surfing and unconventional road trips are the thinking behind the concept, which is the brainchild of Danish design house Republic of Fritz Hansen. The Airstream gets a cabin designed for beachgoers with features such as a waterproof interior and a sunbathing bed.

The Mini Cooper S Clubman is done up in jet black "with black 'wetsuit' neoprene accents along with green trim," say the partners in a statement.

Mini described the concept as one "which consciously transcends into the world of the surfer."

Inside Line says: This is one to admire from afar at this point, as it's not likely to be very practical in the real world. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
