HAIGER-FLAMMERBACH, Germany — Tuner Joachim Inden has a new treat for this year's Tuning World Bodensee in Friedrichshafen — his own "Black Series" edition of the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG.

Inden Design's aero body kit bundles a new front apron with large air vents, new hood, wider fenders with flared wheel arches, side skirts, deck-lid spoiler, rear apron and diffuser. The car is finished in Black Sapphire.

There are some serious under-hood modifications as well. The car's twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 has been tuned to produce 671 horsepower, up from 603 hp, thanks to a reprogrammed ECU and a new exhaust system.

A suspension lowering module drops ride height by 1.8 inches. Inden also fits its 20-inch Champion alloy wheels, which are shod with 265/30 rubber in front and 325/25s in the rear.

The most notable visual change in the cabin is the addition of a Black Series flat-bottomed steering wheel trimmed in Alcantara.

Inside Line says: We're not sure if the Inden "Black Series" SL65 AMG is any less expensive than the factory job — but it sure looks eye-catching.

Am I the only one that thinks full alcantara on an interior, or even an entire "thing" (like the WHOLE steering wheel, not just the rim), is just tacky?

Maybe I don't have enough zeros in my bank account, and if/when I reach a certain level of rich-ness, a man comes and explains it all.

They appear to pretty much just be BBS copies.
