It’s still two years away, but the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SL convertible is already taking shape.   Seen here during cold weather testing, it’s clear that the SL will retain its traditional long hood, short rear deck design.   A retractable hardtop also looks like it will remain part of the package.  The biggest change for this SL will be the switch to a turbocharged engine lineup.   Base models will get a twin-turbo V8 with around 5.0-liters of displacement while the AMG versions are expected to get a 5.5-liter twin turbo eight.    Production of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SL isn’t expected to begin until 2012, so expect to see an official reveal sometime next year.
