MONTVALE, New Jersey — Expect to see the 2011 Mercedes-Benz SL550 Night Edition to arrive in U.S. showrooms in March in extremely limited supply. The German automaker said the U.S. allotment is limited to just 100 units.
Mercedes-Benz USA spokesman Rob Moran told Inside Line on Monday that the SL550 Night Edition will arrive here in "March/April," responding to an e-mailed query. "No pricing is available yet," Moran said.
The moody SL550 Night Edition, which is based on the SL-Class coupe/roadster, gets matte-finish designo magno night black paint and a black premium leather interior. Other details include 19-inch AMG five-spoke light-alloy wheels in a two-tone, high-gloss finish, silver-painted front brake calipers with "Mercedes-Benz" script and darkened headlights and taillights.
The cabin has bright chrome trim, along with black trim on the sports steering wheel, shift lever and roof lining.
Inside Line says: Expect this black beauty to be snapped up in short order. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
