2012 Mercedes-Benz SL It’s still under heavy camouflage, but the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SL is slowing making progress toward a 2011 debut.   Details on the all-new roadster are slowly starting to leak out. Mercedes has just announced its latest line of V8 engines and the new 4.7-liter twin turbo version is likely headed for the SL.      With 435-horsepower and 513 pound-feet of torque, the new V8 will provide excellent power and improved efficiency.   It’s also worth noting that Mercedes has entered into an agreement with Toray Industries of Japan to supply carbon fiber parts for this SL.   So less weight, more power and a new design? Sounds like a good recipe for a very interesting new SL. It’s going to be awhile before we see the finished product, however, as this roadster isn’t expected to debut until the summer of 2011.
