MERZIG, Germany — Carlsson has rolled out a speedy and expensive treatment for the Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG. The kit was originally introduced at the 2008 Essen Auto Show and is dubbed the SL CK63 RS.

Carlsson has upgraded the engine with a new exhaust, intake and ECU, upping output from 525 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque to 600 hp and 520 lb-ft. This cuts four-tenths of a second off the 0-60-mph time to bring it down under 4.1 seconds, and the top speed has also been increased to 202 mph.

Other performance modifications include a carbon composite brake system, C-Tronic electronic lowering suspension and forged 20-inch ultralight wheels wrapped in Dunlop SP SportMaxx rubber.

Carlsson's aero kit comes with a front bumper and rear diffuser, which combine carbon fiber and polyurethane elements to direct airflow for better grip on the road. The exterior is covered in a sharp matte black color called Stealth Titanium Graphite. Five other gloss paint options are available if the stealth look isn't your top choice.

The German tuner finishes off the package with a completely revamped interior that features charcoal suede and soft velour car mats and headrests.

The treatment is priced at the equivalent of $348,691, including tax.

Inside Line says: Although it may not quite have the speed of a stealth bomber, the Carlsson SL CK63 RS kit sure gets the look down. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
