NEW YORK — Mercedes-Benz has introduced new versions of its ML- and GL-Class crossover utility vehicles, powered by a new 5.5-liter V8.

The Mercedes GL550 and ML550 deliver 382 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. The ML550 replaces the ML500, while the GL550 joins the GL450 and GL320 CDI.

The GL550 gets flared fenders, chrome trim, blue-tinted glass, height-adjustable air suspension and 21-inch AMG wheels. The GL comes with three rows of seats.

The ML550 also gets some AMG styling cues front and rear, plus 19-inch AMG wheels with all-season tires. The ML seats five.

What this means to you: Mercedes extends the use of its superb twincam 5.5 V8 to its Alabama-built CUVs.
