After a 12 year absence, the E-Class Coupe returned right here in Geneva.   While the E-Class two door essentially takes the place of the CLK Class Coupe, it does retain some of that car’s styling cues. Notice the prominent grille and uninterrupted greenhouse.  Of course the new Coupe also relies heavily on the new E-Class sedan’s look too. But despite the close relationship, the new coupe rides on a wheelbase that’s only 1.7-inches longer than the CLK.   In Europe, the E Class coupe gets the company’s first direct injection four cylinder engine – a 1.8 liter turbo gasoline unit.   U.S. models will be powered by an updated, direct-injected 3.5-liter V6 with 292 horsepower in the E350, as well as a carryover 388-hp 5.5-liter V8 in the top-of-the-line E550.  We expect to see a convertible version at the Frankfurt show later this year and an AMG version after that.    The 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe is expected to go on sale in the U.S. this summer.
