After a 12 year absence, the E-Class Coupe returned right here in Geneva. While the E-Class two door essentially takes the place of the CLK Class Coupe, it does retain some of that car�s styling cues. Notice the prominent grille and uninterrupted greenhouse. Of course the new Coupe also relies heavily on the new E-Class sedan�s look too. But despite the close relationship, the new coupe rides on a wheelbase that�s only 1.7-inches longer than the CLK. In Europe, the E Class coupe gets the company�s first direct injection four cylinder engine � a 1.8 liter turbo gasoline unit. U.S. models will be powered by an updated, direct-injected 3.5-liter V6 with 292 horsepower in the E350, as well as a carryover 388-hp 5.5-liter V8 in the top-of-the-line E550. We expect to see a convertible version at the Frankfurt show later this year and an AMG version after that. The 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe is expected to go on sale in the U.S. this summer.
