HOESBACH, Germany — Vath, the Bavarian tuning house, revs up the Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG, with engine, chassis, exterior and cabin upgrades starting from less than $1,000.
The big bang comes from the company's V63RS tuning kit, which tweaks the 5.5-liter V8's ECU and Vmax chips, boosting output to 649 horsepower and torque to 708 pound-feet. Vath says the additional muscle trims 0-60 acceleration to less than 3.9 seconds. Top speed also is lifted, to 202 mph.
The V63RS kit is priced at $17,700 and includes a stainless-steel exhaust system with sport catalytic converters, as well as an optimized charge-air cooling system.
Vath also offers individually priced upgrades, starting with a suspension lowering kit that drops ride height by up to 1.6 inches. Also available is a set of three-piece forged-alloy rims with 265/30ZR20 rubber in front and 305/25ZR20s in the rear.
Among the aero add-ons are a front airdam, deck-lid spoiler and rear diffuser with fins and under-floor extension.
Interior options include a sport steering wheel finished in leather, carbon or wood, an extended-range tachometer and carbon-fiber accents.
Inside Line says: We like the name Vath. The mods aren't bad-looking either.

Think the reason why it does not drop even lower is solely due to traction. If you put AWD on this
or put drag radials, the 0-60 will be much lower. But where you probably can see obvious gain is
the 1/4 mile which probably improved dramatically.. Even so, this is a ridiculous upgrade.

I hate how they report 0-60 numbers. Everyone is so conservative.
The CLS550 does 0-60 in 4.2 seconds. You are telling the same car with 247 MORE horsepower does it in 3.9 seconds...

In Mass it is illegal to alter your Catalytic Converter. If you buy it from an aftermarket company like this would it then be legal? Its not the manufacturer.
Mass sucks when it comes to cars...laws, politics, .... etc

One of the very few tuners that keep their mods/designs tasteful. I like.
