Today we’re taking a look at the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG.   Caught testing on the Nurburgring test track in Germany, this is the performance version of the standard CLS due out this fall.    Now this CLS will retain the “63” designation but it will actually be powered by a 5.5-liter V8.  The new AMG designed engine features twin turbos, direct injection and is lighter than its predecessor.    In its standard level of tune the new V8 produces 536 horsepower and 590 pound feet of torque.   An optional Performance Pack will be available to boost power to 563 horsepower and over 600 pound feet of torque.   The power will run to the rear wheels through a seven-speed Sport shift automatic transmission.   Like all AMGs, this CLS will also feature an upgraded suspension, more powerful brakes and larger wheels and tires.   With the standard CLS headed for a reveal at the Paris Auto Show this fall, expect to see the official debut of the CLS63 early next year.
