STUTTGART, Germany — More than a month ahead of its 2010 Paris Auto Show debut, the redesigned 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class has been revealed — unofficially — in a brochure leaked on a German fan Web site.
Mercedes-Benz Passion Blog posted exterior and interior images of the new CLS that appear to have been lifted from a company brochure.
The 2011 CLS, which goes on sale in Europe in January, gets all-new sheet metal and a redesigned cockpit. In Europe, it will be offered in several variants, from the basic CLS250 CDI to a CLS550 4matic.
At the top of the range is a new CLS63 AMG, with a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 delivering 544 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque.

It looks better than the last one although I would never buy it. I don't like 4 doors.
However, hopefully this means that there will be an E63 AMG Coupe in the future especially since they have AMG'd everything else.

it looks great for $80-$100,000 but to me the last gen looks better

I always thought the sedan/coupe genre is overrated in the beauty department and this iteratiion of the "original" doesn't change that one iota. I see a four door with compromised headroom.

Things that *I* think are better about this gen that the last: Rims, it's a year newer.
The front looks hideous with that STUPID high front because of the irritating-style-depriving EURO-NCAP safety standards. Safety standards have gotten so much more strict in the last 10 years and it ruins all car design. If you look at any 2000 or 2001 car from the same model, the front will be lower and the car much lighter. It's a pity. Weight ruins every aspect of performance, and the Europeans are ruining all pretense of design.
At least Infiniti, Lexus and Acura don't listen to the Euro-Ncap, as much.

You can only compare the 5 Series to the E-class. The BMW 4-door coupe CLS fighter got the green light for production not to long ago, for this will be the one to compare to the CLS.
I personally think the 1st generation was stunning, design wise. This one looks rather forced to fit into the current design language. The upward running crease along the rear fender is the culprit. The tail lamps look like something Hyundai has done before. However, since its a Merc, it'll sell in the U.S.

lets hope a person taller than 5ft can fit in the rear.

I'm getting this no doubt. I hope they offer a 4matic version on the CLS550.
