Tuner Special: Vorsteiner CLK63 AMG Black Widow

SANTA ANA, California — California tuner Vorsteiner joins the parade of tuning houses tweaking the menacing Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series. In naming terms, it leads the parade with the moniker Black Widow.

Vorsteiner's Black Widow coupe sports more carbon fiber than the average racing car — appropriate for a car with factory specs that include a 507-horsepower V8 and a top speed in excess of 200 mph.

Inspired by the Mercedes DTM racing cars, Vorsteiner fits a carbon-fiber front spoiler as well as a larger replacement for the AMG-supplied deck lid spoiler, both of which contribute to increased downforce at high speeds.

Vorsteiner says the new spoilers bolt onto the car with no additional modifications.

What this means to you: Look for a new package of engine modifications shortly, as the next step for the Black Widow. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
