MERZIG, Germany — Etienne Aigner, the German designer label known for its purses, belts and other fashionable women's apparel, has joined forces with German tuner Carlsson Autotechnik on a high-performance version of the Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG.

The fashion house had teamed up previously with an automaker — back in 1991, on a limited edition of the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet.

The big new coupe, which is being introduced this week at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show, is badged Carlsson CK65 Eau Rouge.

Under the hood is a Carlsson-modified version of the twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 delivering 720 horsepower, versus 603 hp for the standard AMG-tuned engine.

    Pricing will be announced shortly.
