2004 Mercedes Benz CL 65 AMG
What's Special About It?
The distinction of being the most powerful Mercedes production model ever built pretty much says it all. Its twin turbochargers infuse the 6.0-liter V12 power plant with an astonishing 612 horsepower and 723 pound-feet of torque. Heavy-duty driveline components are used throughout to assure that its prodigious power doesn't lay waste to vital components. The suspension received a similar round of upgrades to provide the added control needed to harness such incredible levels of power. Steering wheel-mounted shift paddles allow for quick control of the standard five-speed automatic transmission while industrial-strength eight piston brake calipers up front guarantee plenty of stopping power. Other exterior enhancements include 19-inch AMG twin-spoke wheels and "V12 Biturbo" badging, of course.
Why Should You Care?
If only to appreciate the marvel of performance engineering that the CL 65 represents. Its yearly quantities will be slim but for those who have the means and can secure a spot on the inevitable waiting list, the CL 65 will no doubt provide one of the most luxurious and refined supercar experiences ever offered for sale to the public.
