- An exhaust and modified ECU bring power to 657 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque.
- The car also gets an inch lower suspension and forged alloy wheels.
- The German tuner is working on an upgraded turbo and intercooling system that could allow this beast to lay down as much as 800 horsepower.
AACHEN, Germany — Wheelsandmore has taken the wraps off of its tuning kit for the 2012 McLaren MP4-12C and calls it the Toxique Evil.
The McLaren's 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine is rated at 592 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque from the factory, and that gets bumped up to 657 hp and 472 lb-ft, thanks to a handcrafted exhaust system with valve flaps and a reconfigured computer. The company is testing a modified turbo and intercooler upgrade that could allow output to flirt with the 800 hp mark.
Other performance mods include springs that lower the suspension by nearly one inch as well specially designed 6Sporz ultralight forged wheels. The multi-piece, weight-optimized rollers are sized 9x20 in the front and 12x21 inches in the rear and come wrapped in 245/30 and 325/25 Continental Sport Contact 5P tires, respectively.
A black racing stripe offset on the driver's side of the vehicle is the only other external mod on this super car. Buyers can get their hands on the pictured model for the equivalent of $370,000.
Pricing and more details are available on the Wheelsandmore Web site.
Inside Line says: Toxique evil is quite a fitting name for a mean beast with almost 666 horsepower.

jeremy_c, "I thought these so called tuners attract high school and college kids who still don't realize that if it's so easier to simply swap a few parts to add horsepower, how come the car makers don't do it?"
The article clearly states that ECU tuning was performed. Tons of cars come out from the factory with conservative tuning and their horsepower can be increased with no consequences.
Also, your argument that all tuning houses are useless falls apart entirely since AMG tuning group was formed in 1967 and was a standalone entity, not a part of Mercedes at the time. Benz acquired AMD tuning based on their excellent modifications work over the years.
That's just 1 example.
Also, consultants aren't stupid. They make more $ advising people who actually end up doing the work. That's actually very smart. The stupid ones are those who hire consultants and pay them millions of dollars.

I thought these so called tuners attract high school and college kids who still don't realize that if it's so easier to simply swap a few parts to add horsepower, how come the car makers don't do it? Aftermarket tuners are kind of like consultants. They can't do the job but make a living out of telling someone else how to do theirs and charge $$$ for it. What a joke.

Lol @ buying a MCLAREN and handing it over to some goofball tuning outfit. McLaren should just take the cars back when owners take them to tuners.

So the stock car starts at $230k.
So 65 bhp and 29lb ft and a set of wheels and springs will only set me back $149k??
Meh, no thanks.

Jeremy has a good point. I can only wonder, because you wouldn't think that a car like this would have that much performance trapped in the exhaust considering it was designed to perform the best it could. However, I could see the tuning would certainly free up some power at the cost of efficiency through a few methods.
My bet is the exhaust is probably less of a contributor to the performance, and more just to give this spin-off its own, distinct growl.

And somehow Wheelsandmore, an aftermarket tuner without the millions $ research knows more about the car than McLaren, the best F1 tuning company? c'mon people, think about it. And if they come up with a stupid name like that, I seriously doubt if their tuning is worthwhile. Another Snake oil salesman appealing to those with more $ and ego than grey matter.

The name is stupid, but the car is dead sexy. Never has a white car looked so sinister.
