LOS ANGELES-Mazda introduced a sport wagon concept vehicle today at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The All-Sport concept, which is a modified version of the Japanese-market Protégé wagon, is similar in execution to the Subaru Impreza Outback Sport, and is designed to attract a youthful, sport-ute-shopping clientele into Mazda showrooms.
The show car differs from the production Protégé wagon because of the addition of all-wheel drive, 17-inch wheels, a highly detailed leather and suede interior, and aggressive front and rear fascias that contain intricate mesh work.
Mazda has no plans to sell the Protégé All-Sport at this time, but is conducting consumer clinics to test the feasibility of such a model in the United States.
