The MX-5 Sport Black is based on the 2.0-liter MX-5 Sport Tech model. The Mazda 2 Black carries a $20,365 sticker and will be offered in a limited run of 618 cars.
Based on the 84-horsepower 1.3-liter model, the Mazda 2 Black can be ordered in Spirited Green metallic, Crystal White Pearlescent and True Red.

offering a cosmetic package is BS and especially so if non of the cosmetic improvements "improve" performance.
Here is an idea for Mazda - develop a Mazdaspeed 2 - 2 door, sport model with a slightly larger 1.6 sky engine....firm suspension, aero package, sport seats, throaty exhaust ,extra gauges.........tell me that wouldn't sell.......

For that much, Black should equal "275-horsepower Mazda MX-5 GT"

I agree. Cosmetic changes and no enhancement of performance is terrible. I want my 20 seconds of skimming this article back.

When I think 'black edition' I think MB's tweaked AMG series, NOT a limited edition with only cosmetic changes. Actually I'm more irritated at IL than mazda. Why write the article to read like this? You should clearly state this is simply yet another cosmetic package, not make us parse through the whole article looking for power/chassis upgrades
