What's New for 2012: All Makes
2012 Maybach 57: After a slight revision in 2011, there are no changes to the Maybach 57 or the Maybach 57S for 2012. The 57 still soldiers on with only 543 horsepower, while the 57S makes do with 620 from a twin-turbo V12.
2012 Maybach 62: Like the 57, the Maybach 62 and 62S were upgraded in 2011 and are unchanged for 2012. Although for 2012 the Maybach 62 Landaulet is available as a special-order only. That's a shame, because everyone knows an impulse Maybach is the best Maybach.

A 57 passed me on the highway this week. It looks very vulgar, but somehow still manages to look like it costs $150000 not $400000+. The only super-luxury sedans I like are the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Bentley Mulsanne. I would like to see a new Mercedes-Benz 600 with some of the features in the Maybach cars, but classic styling and charm.

I see why Maybach has totally failed. It is stomped on by Rolls Royce in sales numbers all over the world. You see much more Phantoms in America than Maybachs. I still think the Maybach is a better all around car than the Phantom. It just doesn't have the same appeal and that is what prevented the Maybach from becoming a huge hit.

Quite possibly the most tasteless luxury car ever made.
