STUTTGART, Germany — Maybach will unveil its new Maybach 57 S at the Geneva motor show next week. This special-edition model of the ultrapremium Maybach line will feature a 612-hp, 6.0-liter V12 bi-turbo engine developed by in-house tuning arm AMG. The 737 pound-feet of torque is electronically controlled and is available between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm. The 57 S accelerates from zero to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds, making it the world's fastest series-production saloon.

The chassis has also been modified to reflect a more dynamic and sporty image. Stability and handling are enhanced by an upgraded suspension system. The exterior expresses its sporty yet elegant style with new 20-inch multispoke wheels, a new grille and redesigned tailpipes. The 57 S is available in special black or silver monochrome colors. The interior luxuriates in leather, piano lacquer and carbon.

What this means to you: If a "standard" Maybach was not an exaggeration in itself, this monument to grandiosity surely will be. The line starts behind Leno.
