Spy Photos: 2009 Maserati Quattroporte

ARCTIC CIRCLE — A more heavily disguised prototype of the 2009 Maserati Quattroporte was caught testing this week, and the quantity of camouflage makes us newly suspicious of the extent of the Quattroporte's mid-lifecycle freshening.

With this amount of camouflage, it looks as if the complete front end could be revised. The powerful sedan's headlamps look bigger, and there will likely be larger air intakes in the car's new front bumper.

Spy photographers were unable to snap shots of the Quattroporte's rear, but the shooter tells us that the rear bumper was also disguised with black tape, so expect changes to the Maserati's back end as well.

What this means to you: With the new Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide looming large in its rearview mirror, Maserati needs to keep the Quattroporte fresh until its 2012 major redesign. — Kelly Toepke, News Editor
