BOLOGNA, Italy — Maserati plans to build just 12 copies of the GranTurismo S Limited Edition — all for the Italian market.
The car is finished in a striking matte Sebring Blue paint scheme, with carbon-fiber spoilers front and rear and carbon-fiber accents.
Unveiled here at the 2012 Bologna Auto Show, the GranTurismo S Limited Edition was created to mark the 150th anniversary of Italy's unification. A numbered commemorative plaque on the center console also denotes the car's exclusivity.
The GranTurismo S Limited Edition also features other distinctive touches, including brake calipers made of hand-polished aluminum, matte-black side skirts and headlamps, and 20-inch alloy wheels.
The cockpit of the GranTurismo S Limited Edition borrows heavily from the GranTurismo MC Stradale, adding carbon-fiber trim on the instrument panel and center console.
Inside Line says: Bologna is also the birthplace of Maserati, which was founded in 1914, when Italy was just 53 years old.
