NEW YORK — Two new editions of the Maserati GranTurismo made their world debuts at the 2011 New York Auto Show. The Maserati GranTurismo MC is the fastest production Maserati available in North America, with a top speed of 185 mph and a 0-60 time of just 4.8 seconds, while the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible Sport is a more performance-oriented version of the GranTurismo Convertible. Deliveries of both models to U.S. customers begin in August.

Maserati says the GranTurismo MC is the first product from the company's racing department, Maserati Corse, that is "specifically tailored" to North American customers, with more power and better handling.

Under the hood is the latest version of the Maserati 4.7-liter V8, developing 444 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque, enough to provide 0-60 acceleration in 4.8 seconds, along with a top speed of 185 mph.

Among the car's features are an aero package, a lighter exhaust system and a single-rate suspension setup.

On the GranTurismo Convertible Sport, Maserati says it has upgraded "everything that touches the driver," including the car's Sport Skyhook adaptive suspension and MC Shift automatic.

A sport exhaust system and an aero package that bundles a front fascia, side skirts, dark trim and body-color door handles are part of the package.

I have a 08 Maserati Granturismo and my wife has a 07 DB9.  The DB9 is always in the shop and everything falls apart.  The DB9 has a lot of body shake over bumps and most the time you can not use the rearview mirror because it shakes all the time.  The Maserati has never been in the shop other than routine maintenance and it has 38,000 miles.  The engine sounds way better than the DB9 and it is fast enough.  I will definitely buy another Maserati but forget the DB9.  I have a 05 Lamborghini Gallardo but I still drive the Maserati 99% of the time.

Oh, I think it's a very good looking car, it just seems a little old. I really don't even know why. And they're definitely amongst few peers in terms of craftsmanship and build quality. I have to say though, I'd much rather have a BD9/Virage over one of these.

The first iteration of this car always looked dated (or ugly/confused).  But these new GT's are very nice.  Can't think a many front engined sports cars than can beat them for its combination of sedate yet exotic styling.  DB9's are nice, but they are starting to look dated.  eye of the beho....

Nice cars, but for some reason, I can't help but view this car as a bit dated.
