2008 Bologna Auto Show: Maserati GranTurismo MC Sport Line

BOLOGNA, Italy — The motorsports experts at Maserati Corse have provided the inspiration for the Italian automaker's MC Sport Line customization program. The new series of performance-oriented options is making its debut here at the 2008 Bologna Auto Show on the Maserati GranTurismo S and will be extended to the rest of the range during 2009.

Celebrating the marque's rich racing heritage, the MC Sport Line is "designed to enhance the sporty DNA of Maseratis" and makes extensive use of carbon fiber both inside and outside the car.

Exterior enhancements include a choice of carbon fiber front and rear spoilers, side skirts, mirror housings and door handles, as well as glossy black 20-inch wheels. Inside, carbon fiber bits include door panels, dashboard, center tunnel, steering wheel, paddle shifters and door sills. To accent all that carbon, the pedals are machined from solid aluminum.

The GranTurismo S is further modified with stiffer springs, shocks and stabilizer bars, resulting in a ride height that's 0.4 inch lower than the standard car. The firmer suspension settings are synchronized with the car's stability program software.

Maserati says its new MC Sport Line components can be bundled in a complete package or ordered individually. The GranTurismo S MC Sport Line will be available in Europe beginning in early 2009.
