Priced in Europe starting at $82,250, plus applicable local taxes, the Exige Cup 260 boasts some modest improvements over last year's Exige Cup car, including a slight boost in output to 257 horsepower (the equivalent of 260 PS, from which the new car gets part of its name). Lotus says the car is also fully homologated for road use in Europe.
In addition to a revised engine management system, the Exige Cup 260 shares a number of enhancements from the 2008 Elise and Exige, including a revised instrument panel, a new alarm/immobilizer system and variable traction and launch control.
The car's standard equipment list includes Yokohama A048R performance tires, AP Racing four-piston front brake calipers, adjustable shocks and stabilizer bar, a FIA-approved six-point roll bar, plus seats for driver and passenger. The racing options include a Recaro driver seat, a 70-liter fuel cell, a stainless steel sport exhaust system and a limited-slip differential.
Lotus says the Exige Cup 260 will sprint from zero to 60 mph in less than 4.1 seconds and from zero to 100 mph in just under 10 seconds, with a top speed of 147 mph.
What this means to you: If you're looking for a lightweight track car, Lotus builds some mighty fine machinery. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
