DULUTH, Georgia — Lotus Cars is marking the end of North American production this month of the Elise and Exige with limited editions of each.
The 2011 Lotus Elise SC Final Edition is priced from $57,500. Only 15 copies will be available.
The 2011 Lotus Exige Matte Black Final Edition is $69,900, while the 2011 Exige S260 Final Edition is $67,500. Lotus will offer 25 copies of the Exige Matte Black and 30 copies of the Exige S260.
Both Elise and Exige in North America use versions of the Toyota 2ZZ engine, a 1.8-liter four-cylinder that no longer will be available to Lotus. In other markets, these models continue with different engines.
The Elise SC Final Edition is powered by a supercharged 218-horsepower 1.8-liter inline-4, while the two Exige Final Editions get a more potent supercharged and intercooled 257-hp version of the same engine.
The Elise SC Final Edition is available in Ardent Red, Aspen White, Carbon Grey and Chrome Orange, with matte black paint detailing on the rear transom panel, roll hoop cover, hardtop and door mirror housings.
The car also comes bundled with loads of standard equipment, including a rear diffuser, perforated-leather steering wheel, polished aluminum gearshift knob, air-conditioning, power locks, push-button start, sport suspension, black 14-spoke forged alloy wheels with Yokohama A048 high-performance tires, as well as a limited-slip diff, traction control, matte-black painted hardtop, perforated-leather door inserts and handbrake lever gaiter, and leather-trimmed center console.
The Exige Matte Black Final Edition, as its name implies, comes with a matte-black exterior finish, plus black Alcantara sport seats, rear diffuser, body-colored rear wing, front splitter, side scoops, roof scoop, perforated-leather steering wheel, polished aluminum gearshift knob, limited-slip diff, black five-spoke forged alloy wheels with Yokohama A048 tires, as well as traction control, adjustable track suspension and Touring Pack.
The Exige S260 Final Edition is powered by the same engine, with many of the same features and equipment as the Exige Matte Black Final Edition. Unlike the latter model, the Exige S260 can be ordered in any color from the Lotus palette. It also features the Sport Pack, Touring Pack and Track Pack.

I always loved the design and will be sad to see these two go . I wont be sad when we see the last of "flat black" specials though ..........I once drove an Elise and it was more hysterical than a barrel of monkeys to get in and out of.........but never did understand what made them so expensive....aside from the LOTUS label. Beautiful little cars that aside and would love to see someone like Mazda or Suzuki or Hyundai take this over and bring out a cheaper version.

Matte finish is the new hood vent - it was cool when someone first did it.
