Lotus Sport's GT4 Supersport has a composite body that the company calls "dramatic" — even by Lotus standards — and a full roll cage, race-adapted springs and dampers, racing-tuned suspension and a set of semi-slick A048 Yokohama tires.
Power comes from the 2-Eleven Supersport's supercharged engine, with output increased to 266 horsepower from the standard car's 251 hp, and torque to 182 pound-feet from 178 lb-ft. The engine has improved induction and exhaust systems and a high-ratio supercharger drive system as well as a remapped ECU. The engine is mated to a six-speed sequential transmission with a centrally mounted push/pull lever; the gearbox is integrated with the engine management system for "lightning quick" gearchanges, Lotus Sport says.
Inside, there are Lotus-designed and FIA-compliant carbon-fiber racing seats, six-point race harnesses, an FIA-approved bag-style tank and a plumbed-in fire extinguisher system. The steering wheel is removable.
The first batch of 10 cars will be released in March, priced in the U.K. at the equivalent of $117,470. Lotus notes, for the budget-conscious, that some of the elements of the new GT4Supersport can be retrofitted to existing 2-Elevens.
