Letters to the Inside Line Editors:
Navigator Mileage in Question
First Drive: 2007 Lincoln Navigator L
Dear Editors:
Regarding the comparison of gas mileage numbers listed in the article, I believe it is misleading. The 15/20 mileage quoted for the Navigator is for a rear-wheel-drive model according to the Lincoln Web site. As I recall, the Lincoln Web site did not provide numbers for the 4WD version. The Cadillac Escalade, on the other hand is AWD.

"Son of Supra" isn't in Toyota's Family Album
Son of Supra
Dear Editors:
Regarding your "Son of Supra" article: I checked on Toyota's Web site and they indicated there are no plans for a future Supra. Is your article bogus?

Nothing is guaranteed, of course, but the fact an automaker hasn't confirmed production plans publicly provides little guidance as to whether it actually will come to pass. — IL
Costs of Hardtops Can Reduce Cost of Ownership
Dear Editors:
I was looking at your TCOSM regarding the Pontiac G6 hardtop convertible versus some soft-top convertibles. I noticed the costs you assessed to the Pontiac were a little higher. I find that people often underestimate the hardtop convertible benefits when comparing and that they can lower cost-to-own significantly.

2006 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-H Rental Is a Lifelong Memory
Follow-Up Test: 2006 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-H
Dear Editors:
First, congratulations on your interesting report. When I read and saw it I got all excited. It did remind me of when I took the chance to drive the GT-H this year in Los Angeles. Too bad I did not know to fix the traction control system. I would love to add your video report to my vacation pictures as it brings over the feeling, sound and pleasure of that cool ride so lively — a lifetime memory.

Show Me the Diesels
Dear Editors:
Why do we see the same old gas-guzzlers in a different package? If the domestics would like to help themselves, why don't they sell their vehicles with fuel-efficient and torque-superior diesels like they do abroad?
I would buy one in a heartbeat. I am tempted to purchase the diesel Volkswagen Jetta but would like to support the domestics. The next best thing in my opinion is a 2.3-liter four-cylinder five-speed manual Fusion until I can get a domestic diesel sedan or wagon. I am really impressed with the Fusion. Good job, Ford. Finally. Now put a nice diesel in it.
If VW can sell them here, why not the Big Three?
