Lincoln Navigator K
What's Special About It?
When the Special Vehicle Team at the Ford Performance Group turns its attention to a vehicle, the results are always exciting. Consider the 380-horsepower Ford F-150 SVT Frightening, ahem, sorry, Lightning. The group's latest project is the Lincoln Navigator K concept. Essentially a regular 2003 Navigator "Ultimate," this concept has been made super-ultimate with the addition of a supercharged 5.4-liter V8 engine which produces a whopping 385 horsepower. It is the first Lincoln ever to get the treatment from the horsepower-lusting gearheads at SVT.
The Navigator K also features 20-inch chrome wheels and tires, special paint treatment, subtle exterior trim changes, as well as the power-deployable running boards, a power rear liftgate and a power-folding third-row seat that are available on the regular Navigator.
Inside, the Navigator's normal wood trim has been exchanged for satin nickel trim. And there's high-pile black carpet and a black dash, which sharply contrast with the garnet leather upholstery and trim.
The "K" is a reference to the 1931 Lincoln Model K, which helped the marque defend and boost its brand against other luxury brands during that era's tough economic conditions.
Why Should You Care?
As Chris Theodore, vice president of Lincoln Advanced Product Creation, says, "The Navigator K is an example of what the Ford Performance Group can offer for Lincoln-Mercury . We're testing the market for exciting new ways to delight the customer. This is one concept for now, but expect to see some other special Lincolns from the Ford Performance Group in the showroom soon." Neil Dunlop
