Lincoln Navicross
What's Special About It?
The Navicross is notable only due to the fact that it seems to be an evolutionary form of the Mark 9 and Continental from last year's Los Angeles show. The fact that Lincoln thinks it needs to build a crossover vehicle is mind-boggling. Then again, who would have thought Cadillac would be selling pickups?
Like the Continental and Mark 9 show cars, the Navicross is long on style and elegance, while trying to add some practicality to the mix with a tailgatelike trunk and raised ride height. Interior space is maximized by limiting switchgear and employing clean, symmetrical lines throughout the cabin. "Suicide"-style doors maximize access to the efficient interior. Lessening the clutter even more is the shift-lever-mounted ignition switch. Large LED screens adorn both driver and passenger sides of the dash. Lincoln has recently decided to spend even more money on designing interiors, and it shows on the Navicross.
Under the hood is a supercharged 4.2-liter V8 hooked up to a five-speed automatic transmission.
Why Should You Care?
The Navicross provides some insight into future Lincoln style, but the Mark 9 and Continental concepts are more significant. Brian Moody
