DEARBORN, Michigan — Lincoln on Wednesday announced that its carryover 2010 MKZ will start at $34,965, including an $850 destination charge. That is a $1,475 increase over the outgoing base model, which started at $33,490, including a $795 destination charge.

Earlier this month, Ford reported that 2009 Lincoln MKZ sales were down 56.7 percent in February 2009 versus February 2008.

The price increase still slots the 2010 Lincoln MKZ $2,370 below the 2009 Cadillac CTS, which starts at $37,335, including a $775 destination charge. Cadillac has yet to announce pricing on the 2010 CTS.

For the 2010 model year, MKZ buyers can order a new Sport appearance package. It adds sport suspension tuning with stiffer springs and larger stabilizer bars; 18-inch Euroflange polished wheels; unique grille, body-color door handles and darkened headlamps. There are also interior upgrades including contrasting piping and aluminum appliqués. The package ranges from $795-$1,295.

Standard features on the 2010 MKZ include leather seats, wood trim, heated and cooled front seats, Ford's Sync entertainment system, a reverse-sensing system and a multiadjustable power driver seat.
