- 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid is priced at $35,180.
- That's the same price as the standard gasoline MKZ.
- MKZ Hybrid goes on sale this fall.
DEARBORN, Michigan — Ford has announced that its new 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid will be priced the same as the standard gasoline version — $35,180, including an $850 shipping charge — when it goes on sale this fall.
One of the Lincoln's closest competitors, the 2010 Lexus HS 250h, is priced at $35,525. The 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid, a sibling of the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, has a sticker of $28,825.
The MKZ Hybrid and Fusion Hybrid share a 156-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 136 pound-feet of torque. Coupled with an electric motor — combined output is 191 hp — and a continuously variable automatic transmission, the powertrain team has EPA fuel-economy ratings of 41 mpg in the city and 36 on the highway.
The HS 250h features a 147-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and a 40-hp electric motor, with a combined output of 187 hp. Its EPA ratings are 35/city and 34/highway.
Inside Line says: In the entry-premium class, it looks like a relatively close race between the Lincoln and the Lexus, but the Fusion is still the better buy. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

Sneaky. Time to read between the lines. The MKZ hybrid has the 2.5L I4 in it. The standard MKZ has the 3.5L V6...hmmmm they don't mention that in the article nor in the press release. It's left to the public to decipher the difference.
Toyota has been pricing the Camry hybrid $1000 lower than the 3.5L V6 Camry since 2006. This is nothing new. Good for Ford/Lincoln if they can pull it off.

Well I can garuntee that if the price is the same they will sell a lot more of the hybrids then the regular gas versions considering how great the powertrain. It also seems like a perfect powertrain for a Lux type vehicle (smooth delivery of power and a smooth overall ride)

Since Ford has relieved Mercury of it's rebadge status, it's time to make Loncoln a real luxary brand. I like the MKS, and the last gen LS, but it's time for Ford to do what Nissan and Toyota do with their Infiniti and Lexus brands.

redgeminipa, that's not the proper comparison, since you're comparing a base Fusion Hybrid with a base MKZ Hybrid; the base MKZ Hybrid will also have a lot of useful (or, at least, vain :-)) features that the base Fusion Hybrid doesn't have.
The Fusion Hybrid that I bought a year ago was almost fully loaded and came out at nearly $32K. I am going to assume that the base MKZ Hybrid will not have navigation but will have all other features that I got. That makes the price premium more like $4K rather than $6K.

"but the Fusion is still the better buy" Um, yeah... the MKZ is the same car with different headlights, taillights, dashboard and leather. Those don't add up to a $6,355 premium.
