Based on the Lincoln MKT Concept that debuted at last year's Detroit auto show, the production MKT keeps Lincoln's conspicuously large split grille and basic crossover shape.
MKT and EcoBoost badges were clearly visible on one prototype, confirming that the 2010 MKT will feature Ford's new EcoBoost V6, a twin-turbocharged direct-injection 3.5-liter unit that makes 340 horsepower and more than 340 pound-feet of torque and is also slated for use in Lincoln's new MKS flagship sedan.
A clean shot of the MKT's interior reveals an upscale, functional cabin. Although the MKT concept was designed with seating for just four passengers, the production MKT is expected to include a third-row seat.
The 2010 Lincoln MKT will make its official debut next month at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show.
Inside Line says: Ford's president of the Americas Mark Fields said the Lincoln MKT concept offers the "comfort of a luxury sedan, the spaciousness and flexibility of a full-size utility and the performance of a sporty roadster." Let's hope the production model can make good on some of those claims. — Kelly Toepke, News Editor
