The 2010 RX 350 has a revised 3.5-liter V6 that makes 275 horsepower and 256 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed multimode automatic transmission. The suspension has been redesigned for more cargo space and a smoother driving experience, Lexus said. Active Torque Control AWD and Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) handling technology are both now available on the Lexus. There's also an optional adaptive front lighting system; it has a camera mounted on the inside rearview mirror that estimates where the vehicle will be in three seconds and adjusts headlamp aim and intensity to suit.
Other safety features include 10 standard airbags and an optional Pre-Collision System with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control to maintain a preset safe following distance. The Lexus comes with aluminum alloy wheels in 18-inch or optional 19-inch sizes.
There's an exhaustive list of electronic equipment onboard, as befits a Lexus, including an available hard-disk drive navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity, USB inputs, an optional rear-seat entertainment system, side and back-up monitor screens, XM NavTraffic and NavWeather — and a Remote Touch controller to operate it all.
The RX 350 will compete against the BMW X3, which is priced at least $1,000 higher, and the Audi Q5, which undercuts the Lexus by about the same amount.
